Meet the Maker

Tyler is a Potter and Ceramic Artist from the Northeast United States. He first started working with clay from 2006-2011 while attending the Gow School - An international school for Dyslexic students - in South Wales, NY - nestled just outside East Aurora, home of the Roycroft Inn and Arts Campus . Tyler received his BFA in Studio Arts from Wells College - Class of 2015 - in New York’s Finger Lakes Region and his MFA in Ceramics from the Rochester Institute of Technology in the School for American Crafts - Class of 2025. Tyler has worked as a resident artist at Craigardan in the High Peaks of New York’s Adirondack Mountains, an apprentice to Regis Brodie of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs NY, and has taught in serval studios throughout New York and Massachusetts.

Currently, Tyler is the emerging artist stage of his career, building his practice in Buffalo New York following his MFA Graduation. Tylers work connects with the sentiments of the historical Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19th - early 20th century. His love of the artists, styles, and philosophies was born from the time he spent at the Roycroft Inn and Arts Campus - A historic site within the movement. Recently, he has spent parts of each summer in Rangeley, Maine. While in Rangeley, he adjusts his practice and utilizes alternative firing techniques like sagger, pit, and is constructing a wood fired rocket kiln!

Outside the studio, Tyler built a strong foundation in the art market as an accomplished Fine Art Consultant and Broker. His experience includes representing prominent establishments such as Silverwood Home and Galleries in Saratoga Springs and Bolton Landing, NY; Spa Fine Art in Saratoga Springs, NY; and Sheldon Fine Art in Newport, RI, and Naples, FL.

An outdoors enthusiast, Tyler enjoys all that the change of seasons in the Northeast has to offer; you can often find him skiing, cycling fishing, ice skating, sailing, hiking, and gardening when he is not in the studio. An avid cook, he enjoys the practice of customizing his utilitarian ceramics to enhance the presentation and experience of the dishes he creates.
